SETE Among the Quechuas in Peru – prayers requested for students

September 26, 2016 8:01 am

We had a good report from Pastor Samuel Saccsara, our coordinator in Ayacucho and Chosica, about the SETE class held there in July 2016. Dr. Richard Emmons was the teacher. It was his first teaching trip for SALT Leadership. His interpreter was Rino Beretta. Pray that the Lord will supply more teachers and materials for the needs in this place. Please see the report below for details on God’s work among these students.

“Thanks to the Almighty Lord Jesus. These students are leaders and pastors in 7 different regions who are sharing these workshops back in their communities. In order to attend this workshop, some traveled 10 hours from the jungle, some four and half hours from Huanca Sancos, and others traveled from a región only an hour away. They cover their own travel expenses and Runa Simi sponsors their food and lodging. Students can not leave their families or work for more than three days at a time. For this reason, we conducted workshops in conjunction with SETE, (Educational Theological Seminary by extension). Through these workshops we are strengthening students in their knowledge and good doctrine. It is a joy to hear their testimonies- how they can now fearlessly preach the Word of the Lord, and how the Holy Spirit helps them remember the words they studied. One of the students said that formerly, he was a pastor of his denomination but now, through these studies, he feels like a more knowlegable, biblical Christian and regrets his former way of leading. These students need Quechua Bibles and learning supplies (colored pencils, etc), flashlights, a portable radio, some sturdy shoes for walking in the mountains. Please pray for these needs. May God bless you.”
